ERIK Gundersen is one of the most popular riders in Speedway’s history. The smiling Dane won the hearts of fans throughout the sport – and particularly at the famous old Cradley Heath club where he became a true club legend.
Erik won three individual world titles in thrilling style and everyone within the sport was delighted for him. But his career was ended in a horror crash at Bradford’s Odsal Stadium in 1989. He almost lost his life but with great courage and the support of wife Helle, he pulled through and to this day remains involved with youth development in his home country Denmark.
In the summer of 2012, Erik made an emotional return to the Black Country and over 400 fans packed The Venue in Dudley to listen to his stories about the great days – and his candid view of the day his career ended.
This DVD production includes an interview in 1991 when he returned home to Denmark, footage from his brilliant career and the full recording of that amazing night in Dudley. Settle back, relax, and enjoy an evening in the company of a true sporting all-time great. Electric Erik – Then and Now!
